 Dominican Republic Holidays

The Dominican Republic celebrates a variety of holidays throughout the year. National holidays are a great time to visit the country and spend quality time with your family and friends. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway for two or an unforgettable family reunion, you’ll find the ideal Dominican holiday for you.

The Dominican Republic has twelve official national holidays. These days are treated much like Sundays – employees are granted a day off from work and schools are closed. The Dominican Republic also has a few one-time national holidays. Two of them occur during election years. The country also has two observances that are similar to national holidays but are not religious.

Easter Sunday, May 1, Labor Day, and our Lady of Mercy day  are all great days to visit the Dominican Republic. However, be prepared for crowded restaurants, cafes, and amusement parks on these days. You might find it easier to spend a relaxing day at your hotel rather than a busy city. In addition, be sure to avoid the day after Easter to avoid the crowds.

Restoration Day is another holiday to commemorate the war between Spain and the Dominican Republic in 1863. Pedro Santana signed an agreement with Spain in 1863 that reverted the country to a Spanish colony. The war between the two countries ended in 1865. Mother’s Day is also a national holiday in the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic has several national holidays and celebrations throughout the year. On October 5th, the country celebrates Constitution Day, the day after the first constitution was adopted. The Dominican Republic also has an early Christmas tree season, starting in late October. In addition to being an important holiday, the Dominican Republic also celebrates two other national holidays in the year.

Dominican Republic holidays are colorful celebrations of the country. They are different from the holidays of many other countries. Unlike many other countries, the Dominican Carnival is celebrated in the winter. If you want to learn more about the Dominican Republic, check out our holiday calendar.

Juan Pablo Duarte Day, February 27th, is a National Holiday that honors a Dominican hero, the first president of the Dominican Republic. On the occasion, people lay wreaths at his tomb and march in parades across the country. The most exciting celebrations, however, are held in front of his statue at Duarte Park.

New Year’s Day is celebrated in the Dominican Republic on January 1. This day marks the beginning of the new year. In other countries, this day marks the beginning of the Christian calendar. The Dominican Republic is not the only country to celebrate New Year, but it does celebrate the first in the Caribbean.
