Are You A Sports Fan Or Sports Fanatic?
I’m guessing that by reading this article, you either are a die-hard sports enthusiast or a casual sports fan. If you are a die-hard sports enthusiast, I would assume that you’ve followed your sports team religiously throughout your life. If you’re a casual fan, I would assume that you don’t follow your teams as much as you should. That probably means that you enjoy watching the games from the couch or the TV, but not as much as you would like. This article is geared towards casual fans.
When it comes to sports, there is no greater satisfaction than being involved with your team/favorites. So, are you a sports fanatic? I would guess that you are, and I will give you my opinion of the difference between a die-hard sports fanatic and a casual sports fan. A die-hard sports fanatic will always have a favorite team they root for when they get the opportunity, whether they actually have the opportunity to be at the game or not.
Sports fan knows every fact or history detail about every sport, as well as tons of statistics and all sorts of other stuff. These folks follow their sports around in a minivan, and they’ll watch game after game until they can’t take anymore. Casual sports fanatic on the other hand, might catch a ballgame on the weekends, but they won’t know who any of the players are, or what year the team is in, or even how many wins or losses the team has had in the season.
Well, these people have the exact same interests as a die-hard sports fanatic. However, they are much quieter when they are around people, because if they start saying things like, “Wow, why did you put that in the movies,” then pretty soon you’re going to hear the sound of a giant obnoxious person getting escorted out of the building by security. Whereas, the die-hard sports fan loves to brag about his/her teams and their exploits. Which is fine, I suppose, but it’s also pretty easy to see how the casual sports fanatic could grow into an obnoxious, huge obnoxious person with nothing better to do than bragging to everyone they meet.
However, don’t think that just because you’re not sitting in front of a big obnoxious person in the movie theater that you can’t get along with them. A lot of people think that you can’t, or that you shouldn’t, or that somehow the whole idea of having a social life is a sham. Well, all of those people need to go take a long look at what life would be like without sports fans. I’m sure that it would be a lot more interesting.
So yes, I am a sports fanatic. I love watching the NFL Sunday Ticket, the College Game, the World Series, the NBA playoff series, all the college and professional sports. And although I may not be able to root for my team (which is kind of sad, considering the other guys are probably cheering for their girlfriends too) I will always have time to eat hot dogs and burritos. And to chat with people who share my love of this great sport. Now if you’ll pardon me, I have got to run and grab a beer before the game starts.
